Yes, You Should Add Collagen to Your Mocktail Recipes

Last Update: September 27, 2022

Not on board with bone broth, but need a little more collagen in your life? Take a walk on the sweeter side with these collagen peptide mocktail recipes that turn summer cocktails into simple sippers, sans alcohol. In this episode of Prep School, Megan Mitchell teaches us how to make Strawberry Lemonade Granita and Cranberry Pomegranate Faux Sangria. Both include a mixture of fresh herbs, fruit, and natural sweeteners for mocktails that everyone can enjoy. Looking to up the sweet factor even more? Add honey for a natural boost. Cheers!

Strawberry Lemonade Granita

Collagen Mocktails

The flavor of this recipe is reminiscent of powdered drinks you might have enjoyed as a kid, but fresh fruit, fragrant basil, and an icy texture add a grown up spin. The collagen powder we’re using is sweetened with stevia, so honey is an optional addition.

Yield: 4 cups
Active time: 15 minutes
Total time: 7 hours 15 minutes

Ingredients:

1 pound strawberries, hulled and washed
3 cups water
Juice of 2 lemons
2 tablespoons honey, optional
3 scoops Garden of Life Grass Fed Collagen Beauty, Strawberry Lemonade
¼ cup packed basil leaves, finely chopped
Basil sprigs, for garnish

Instructions:

Add strawberries, water, lemon juice, and honey (if using) to a high speed blender and process until smooth. Add collagen powder and chopped basil leaves; blend on low speed until collagen dissolves; let sit 15 minutes for any foam to subside. Strain into a 9 x 13-inch baking dish so the liquid is about ½-inch deep. Freeze for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the top layer has begun to harden. Scrape granita several times with a fork, breaking up any chunks. Repeat the process every 45 minutes (about 3 more times), then freeze for an additional 4 hours before serving. To serve, spoon granita into a small bowl or glass and garnish with basil sprigs.

Cranberry Pomegranate Faux Sangria

Collagen Mocktails

A pomegranate-infused collagen powder is the key ingredient in this ruby-red mocktail. We love the peach and blackberry combo, but any seasonal fruit will work perfectly here.

Yield: 8 servings
Active time: 15 minutes
Total time: 2 hours and 15 minutes

Ingredients:

5 cups water
4 scoops Garden of Life Grass Fed Collagen Beauty, Cranberry Pomegranate
1 cup pomegranate juice
1 pint blackberries
2 peaches, pitted and sliced
1 lime, thinly sliced
5 sprigs mint
3 tablespoons pomegranate seeds, optional
Sparkling water

Instructions:

Add 2 cups water and collagen powder to a lidded mason jar; secure lid and shake vigorously. Pour into a pitcher and add remaining 3 cups water and pomegranate juice; stir. Add blackberries, peaches, lime, mint, and pomegranate seeds (if using); gently stir. Refrigerate for 2 hours, or up to overnight, before serving. To serve, fill a glass halfway with pomegranate mixture. Add some fruit from the pitcher, then top with sparkling water.
