From Farm to Tablet: Making a Difference Through Multivitamins

Last Update: September 28, 2022

Back in 1973, a company called MegaFood was founded inside the walls of a little red house in Derry, New Hampshire. Since then, it’s made a commitment to produce high-quality supplements using fresh, non-GMO ingredients.

Creating each supplement from scratch involves eight different steps—from grinding the fruits and veggies to dehydrating them at just the right temperature to keep nutrients intact—that can take up to 236 hours per batch.

The journey is called a Slo Food Process™, and MegaFood always takes its time. It believes that by using primarily fresh and local, whole ingredients, your body will better recognize the vitamins as food and allow the nutrients to be better absorbed.

Take the Blood Builder Supplement, for example, which is a good source of iron, vitamin B12, and folate. There’s a lot of farm-to-tablet love in each bottle, like beetroot from Stahlbush Island Farms, based in Oregon’s Willamette Valley, and vitamin C from Uncle Matt’s oranges, organically grown in Florida under the care of fourth-generation farmers.

MegaFood buys half a million pounds of produce each year from its network of farmers, known as “besties,” because they’re considered friends, not strangers.

Pledging to end nutritional poverty

The good vibes don’t stop when bottles are filled and shipped off to stores and online stockists. MegaFood is committed to giving back, and its MegaPledge program helps make multivitamins accessible to those affected by nutritional poverty, or eating high-calorie diets with low nutritional value.

“Despite the overabundance of food in America, nutritional poverty is a very real issue that transcends people of all ages, ethnicities and income,” says account manager Michael Bobrowski. “The good news is that this can be addressed effectively by simply taking a quality multivitamin made from fresh foods.”

Here’s how it works!

1: Take the pledge

All it takes is one click! You give MegaFood your word that you want to help eliminate nutritional poverty.

2: You’re entered to win

The first 20,000 pledgers receive a $5 off coupon, and all pledgers are entered to win a year’s supply of multivitamins.

3: MegaFood donates

For every pledge up to 20,000, MegaFood will donate one bottle of multivitamins to someone in need. Through partner Wholesome Wave—a nonprofit dedicated to expanding affordable access to healthy produce—an additional donation equivalent to two servings of fresh fruit and veggies will go to underserved communities in the United States.

When it comes to closing the nutritional gap with farm fresh foods, multivitamins are one of the easiest ways to do it. “With this pledge,” Bobrowski says, “we’re able to donate our multivitamins to those who would not have the means to obtain them otherwise.”
