Makeup doesn’t get more low-maintenance than cream blush—especially when it’s in stick form. You don’t need any special tools or brushes to apply. Just swipe it on, blend with your fingertips, and toss the tube in your bag for touchups throughout the day.
What’s even better—it’s super easy to make with just two ingredients: nourishing coconut oil and a smidge of your favorite lipstick. Press play to see how, and get the full recipe below.
Candle
Metal spoon
Slice of any lipstick; we used Mineral Hygienics Matte Lipstick in Wild One
1 tablespoon coconut oil
Small funnel
Empty chapstick tube
Light candle and heat lipstick slice in a metal spoon, holding an inch or two over flame. Add coconut oil and swirl until fully melted and combined.
Funnel into the empty chapstick tube and let cool and set completely.
Swipe on the apples of cheeks—you can layer on as much or as little color as you like—and blend with your fingertips until you’re happy with the look. It’s so easy to apply, and the coconut oil hydrates skin for a healthy, natural-looking glow.
One thing to note: coconut oil melts around 76 degrees Fahrenheit. We’ve found that the lipstick-oil combo holds its texture fairly well, but if your blush stick gets a little too soft, pop it in the fridge until firm, about an hour or so.
If you’ve got a little bit of lipstick left in a tube somewhere, this is the perfect way to use it up!
