Toner is a great step to take in your skin care regime. It removes dead skin cells, refreshes and rejuvenates the skin and evens out the skin tone.
Natural toners can be a little pricey, but they are quick and inexpensive to make at home. All you need is apple cider vinegar, water and some essential oil.
Apple cider vinegar is a natural choice for the skin. It has a pH level of 3 and when diluted, it can help to restore the skin’s natural pH levels. Raw, unfiltered apple cider vinegar is also packed with enzymes, which will help improve the appearance of the skin, unclog pores and offer a deep clean.
If you’re not a fan of that acidic vinegar smell, just add a few drops of an essential oil to the mix. Lavender, rose, camomile or tea tree work really well, but chose whichever you like best. The vinegar smell dissipates as the solution dries, so even if you decide to skip the oil, your skin won’t be left smelling like vinegar.
Diluting the vinegar at a 1:3 ratio is standard, but you can experiment with what works for you. Everyone has different skin and different preferences, so mix a small amount to try it out before settling on a ratio. It’s best to experiment on a small patch of your skin so you can test what makes your skin happy.
1 cup apple cider vinegar
3 cups filtered water
5 drops essential oil
Place all the ingredients into a jar and mix well. Store in a cool dark place. Use by placing a small amount onto organic cotton wool and wiping over the face. Allow to dry before moisturizing.
