Plants are powerful: you feel it when you eat fruits, vegetables, herbs, and fungi. These ingredients deliver essential nutrition to your body and help you to stay healthy and well—so why wouldn’t you apply the same concept to your beauty products?
For our f.a.e.® by Thrive Market range of hair care products, we harnessed the power of botanical ingredients to create nourishing, natural shampoos and conditioners for a variety of hair types. Things like aloe, rosemary, jojoba and chamomile are gentle and natural additions to your shampoos and conditioners—but do they work as well as more traditional, synthetic ingredients?
According to our product innovators, they do. We spoke to Nancy Ibarra, Product Innovator for Beauty and Personal Care at Thrive Market, about how the team chose standout botanical ingredients for f.a.e. by Thrive Market products.
Aloe is a recognizable, spiky plant that contains a thick, clear gel inside its leaves.
Aloe for hair: The team chose aloe when formulating hair products that are soothing and nourishing. Studies have shown that aloe soothes scalp irritation and helps to treat seborrheic dermatitis, the skin ailment that causes dandruff.

You certainly already know what olive oil is, as you likely cook with it on a regular basis. This fatty liquid is made by pressing fresh olives and extracting their oil, but because it’s so lightweight, it also makes a good carrier oil in skin or hair care products.
Olive oil for hair: The team chose olive oil because of its moisturizing properties, which may make it beneficial for dry or damaged hair.
