Satisfying and creamy with just enough crunch, avocado toast has become a favorite breakfast of Instagram foodies and healthy eaters alike. Here’s how to spice up the basic recipe with traditional Japanese flavors—coconut aminos, sesame seeds, and toasted nori.Â

1 slice multigrain bread
1 teaspoon olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons coconut aminos, divided
1/2 avocado, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon lemon
1 tablespoon shredded toasted nori
1 teaspoon sesame seeds
1 teaspoon orange zest
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper
Toast bread, then brush with olive oil and 1/2Â teaspoon coconut aminos. Arrange avocado slices over top and season with lemon juice and remaining teaspoon coconut aminos. Sprinkle with toasted nori, sesame seeds, orange zest, and cayenne.
