Have you ever been excited to try a new natural shampoo or face wash, only to find it doesn’t work as well as the conventional brand you’re hoping to replace? It’s a common experience, but ACURE is trying to change that by infusing its products with some pretty potent plant- and food-derived ingredients.
Take the Purifying Fruit Peel, for example. This five-minute detox for your skin gets you glowing with papaya enzyme, bitter cherry, and blue agave to gently exfoliate without nasty stuff like parabens, sulfates, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances or phthalates.
ACURE doesn’t stop with the ingredients, either. Its packaging is made from recycled materials, and the company is certified cruelty-free by both PETA and Leaping Bunny. Since its founding in 2010, ACURE has been family-owned and operated. It’s a big supporter of organic agriculture and efforts to keep pesticides not only off your skin, but out of our food system and water sources as well.
“Many people view using natural skin care products as a compromise on efficacy,” says founder Kristy Guerra. “With ACURE, we wanted to make sure people felt like they didn’t have to sacrifice results by choosing better-for-you skin care. We want to provide products that work with you to help you achieve your skin and hair care goals. We believe that being better-for-you isn’t enough, it also has to work.”
This combined passion for effective products that are also kind to the planet helps inform ACURE’s charitable giving with two amazing organizations it supports. Here’s a closer look at the programs:
When Unite for HER’s founder was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004, she eagerly searched for therapies that would complement her medical treatment, but was surprised when she came up short. In response, she started the nonprofit in 2009 to provide accessible information on topics like nutrition, acupuncture, massage, yoga, counseling, and other ways for cancer patients to enhance their wellness while undergoing treatment.
How ACURE gets involved
Ten cents for every Day Cream and Night Cream sold supports Unite for HER’s efforts.
Eleven years ago, a group of teens got together to advocate against hazardous chemicals in beauty and personal care products. What began around one family’s kitchen table has grown into a movement spanning 50 states, 45 countries, and more than 2,000 campuses. Turning Green has grown into a student-led movement devoted to education and advocacy around environmental issues from fashion to food, and is empowering the next generation of eco-conscious consumers.
How ACURE gets involved
ACURE is one of Turning Green’s corporate partners, and also participates in its programs and outreach efforts throughout the year, like its Conscious College Tour—a six-week national tour that helps inspire students to transition their lives and school campuses from conventional to conscious.
