Muhammad Ali isn’t the only one in the family who floats like a butterfly. His awesome daughter, Laila Ali, has the same moves—in the ring and in the kitchen.
Laila, a boxing world champion in her own right, kicks serious butt when it comes to cooking. Her homemade fresh cranberry sauce is proof positive.
No need to break out the can opener for this one. This recipe, made with whole fresh cranberries, is much healthier and tastier than the canned stuff. Bonus: It’ll make the house smell like a dream.
And speaking of dreams, Laila is one of the dreamiest chefs we’ve ever seen at work. Press play to learn what makes her cranberry sauce so special. And see the recipe below.
1 pound fresh cranberries, washed
1 cup pure maple syrup
4 tablespoons orange juice
1 cup cranberry juice
1 tablespoon orange zest
1 cinnamon stick
Add cranberries to pan, and turn heat to medium. Add maple syrup, orange juice, and cranberry juice. Bring berries to a boil on medium-high heat, then reduce to a simmer for 10 minutes until cranberries start to pop. Add orange zest and cinnamon, and simmer for 10 more minutes until juice thickens. Cool and store in the fridge until ready to serve.
Stay tuned for round two of Laila’s greatest Thanksgiving recipes: cornbread stuffing.
